Very thoughtful and informative. It talks of simple games you might already be doing but adds a fun twist which inspires the thought process more then just bird watch for instants. I enjoy it and look forward to putting the book into action.

I received the book quickly which was nice. However, I thought the activities would be more physical than sit down. This book would be nice for teachers but I doubt I will use much of it. I would return it but the return price costs almost the same amount as I paid for the book. Would not purchase again.

Many great ideas for helping preschool-age children develop different skills including creativity in play and activities. And the best part: no screen time!

Who Was Bob Marley?   When he was twelve years old, Bob Marley and his mother, Cedella, boarded the bungo- bungo. That was what people in the Jamaican countryside called the public buses. Bob and Cedella were riding from their small, friendly village, called Nine Mile, to Kingston, Jamaica’s capital city.   Watching their neighbors wave good-bye, Cedella wasn’t as sad as Bob. He was probably thinking about what they were leaving behind: soccer games in the grassy hills and the music his neighbors played on their porches at night. But Cedella was sure she could find a better life for herself and her son in Kingston.   So in 1957, Bob and Cedella rolled down Jamaica’s dirt roads in the bungo-bungo to their new home.   They moved to a Kingston neighborhood called Trench Town. When they arrived, Bob was nervous about what he saw.   Trench Town was a part of the city with run-down buildings and streets crowded with people who were very poor. Many called it a slum. There was no indoor plumbing, so the people of Trench Town had to collect water from pumps in public spaces, called yards. Public yards were like dusty parks set in the middle of big concrete apartment buildings that had been built by the government.   Trench Town could be a dangerous place. People sometimes stole from one another and fought in the street. Bob kept to himself and observed his new neighborhood, trying hard to feel at home there.   Bob noticed that the public yards were where neighbors gathered to talk or play cards and soccer. Some kids played music there. Sometimes it could seem almost like Nine Mile!   When Bob played his guitar in the yard by his house, other kids noticed how talented he was. They even asked to play with him.   Singing and playing with his new neighbors in the public yard, Bob celebrated the good things in life, like having a full meal and a close friend. It seemed the struggles of the poorest people in Kingston made them appreciate the joy that music brought to their lives more than anyone Bob had ever met.   That’s when Bob knew he always wanted to make music—the kind that brought people together to share simple, everyday joys. And Bob went on to do just that. His music continues to inspire and uplift people everywhere.

Fun book for my 11 year old. He did a book report on this for his 6th grade report so it had a lot of key facts; however, the reading level was low. I’d have to say would be great for kids that read around 4.0 to 4.5

My 12 yr old kiddo loves this book. It's his go to choice when it's evening reading time b/c it's quite interesting & he loves music. I enjoy hearing him read the events in this book. This book works for any ages, quick read for older kiddos.

What I like about who was Bob Marley book is what I wanted add as my black history collection.

My 8 year old son loved the book. He read in a two days.

My grandson read the book to me. Very interesting. My grandson and I learned something.

Kids love these books at the library!

The combine package gives the reader a good overall understanding of the book.This book also has a few good maps, an Order of Battle, a decent Notes Section and a helpful Bibliography if you want to extend your research.If you have an interest in the Far East and how the antagonism between China and Japan grew into a major confrontation, this book will go a long way to inform and is recommended.

Fans of accomplished writers such as Max Hastings and Antony Beevor will find much to like in this arresting and informative book about the outbreak of total war between China and Japan in 1937. This is not dry, old-school military history, but an attempt to show war as it was experienced by the participants, from the generals bent over their maps at headquarters, right down to the lowly “grunt” in the muddy trenches. Copious use of diaries and memoirs ensure that authentic voices permeate the entire narrative.The author does not shy away from showing the horrific aspects of modern war as it was unleashed on Shanghai during the battle. It is a depressing fact that civilians became victims from the very first day of the fighting, not just as a collateral damage, but because they were directly targeted by the Japanese invaders. Years of accumulated rage and hatred between China and Japan was let loose when war broke out between the two nations. If one wants to understand why memories of the war still linger in the collective minds of the two peoples even today, there is no better place to start than this book.One thing that surprised me as a German was the extent of the involvement of German officers in the early stages of the war against Japan. Originally sent to China as advisors to Chiang Kai-shek’s army, they became respected teachers to an entire generation of Chinese officers. Many of the Germans became deeply involved in the battle for Shanghai. This is a fact that is not often if ever mentioned even in German accounts of the years before and during the Second World War.

The Battle of Shanghai is oddly one of the best documented, but also least remembered battles from the period before America's entry into World War II. Peter Harmsen, in Shanghai 1937: Stalingrad on the Yangzi, seeks to makes use of the former to rectify the latter. One of the things I really appreciated about Harmsen's narrative is his demonstration of the brutality on both sides; the radicalization of the Japanese as they executed prisoners in gruesome ways and the Chinese, often civilians, that took brutal revenge when the opportunity presented itself. It is a grim picture of modern war. Shanghai 1937 will give the reader a new perspective on World War II in Asia and the Pacific. The text is accompanied by a good number of photographs and maps.

I was lucky enough to be a beta reader for this book, and I am very happy with the published book. Looking forward to the next chapter in Collins story.

This is a little different than most sci-fi books that I have read but it keeps the action through out the whole book. I would recommend it.

The complex character. Cant wait for the next.

Another great beggining to new series from accomplished writer and friend of the sci-fi community.👾 Kevin just wants to get back to his girls...... but, that's gonna be hard when he's on a prison planet, got a minder called Salter on his back, and he holds the activate/deactivate keywords to the xeno-belter blood running thru him. And, under attack!?! From who? Aren't belters the only ones with Beezer plasma weapons?! Wouldn't they pull his minder at least? His tech was worth an ungodly sum. With his pitbull friend, Salter, Wheezy Leka the medic and a couple of slum teens, they head away from the invisible attackers. Who are mowing down Colonial and prisoners alike. They head for the jungle's edge to follow it to food stores when they have a "Yellow Submarine" experience. Two plate shaped, red/black colored disks with pyramid shaped heads? Kevin fires off a plasma rifle and it deflects it! He takes a running dive and grabs it. Only to find it's split down the middle and full of teeth, biting down him. They had some slug throwers they got off of dead guards and are able to kill it with that. They head toward food storage, only to find the guards keeping prisoners away from buildings. Figures. They'd rather lose prisoners than buildings and infrastructure. While they're watching. The invisible ship opens fire on prisoners and guards alike. Who is attacking? Then a giant whirling pyramid lowers to the ground, and with a ripping sound, separates into two multi-legged towers with spinning heads. They're organic metal? No time! They start eating humans! In the confusion, they get what little they can and run back to the jungle. The whole planet is an industry. One giant Recycle world. If they can get to textiles and then Admin. They might find a shuttle offworld. That's a big if, these Xenos seem to come in many sizes. What's they're endgame? Enjoy, Trapper

I usually don't review of its going to be negative. However, book was well written interesting characters no typos that could find.It just wasn't interesting. I kept reading waiting for something to happen. The super solider on the cover.Kept reading, trudging through the plot. It didn't get interesting to me until halfway through the last chapter. I knew where it was going 1/4 way through.If you like survival and running around with no plan shooting things?This book is for you.

Great start for a new series. It is well written and will keep you up at night reading and you will not want to stop. Looking forward to the next book.

Another well written and exciting book from this author. I highly recommend it.
