A heartwarming story of trials, and faith leading the way to survival. I thought the first book in the series was great, so this one must be rated phenomenal. I appreciate the authors style and incorporation of Christian values in a world that has drastically changed due to truthful & possible events. She must continue to write these books for us now that we are hooked! I found myself angry and saddened, not by the book but by the fact that I was too busy with life to finish it in one night! I look forward to the third and forth books in the series. What intrigue this author has stirred inside me to ponder the “what if’s” this should occur and my responses to it. We were not effected by Harvey but were enlightened by the devastating destruction of lives and property. As we were watching the news report that rainy Sunday, I communicated to my husband we couldn’t just keep watching and do nothing! So off we went in search of a Christian shelter to volunteer and donate. Houston STRONG! GOD IS GOOD and speaks to us; we just have to LISTEN!

I had picked up the first book (and the third and fourth) in this series at a garage sale.I like that the book holds my interest and intrigues me to continue reading. The background work that Terri did helps the book seem like it could actually happen and brings life to the story. I do like the integration of characters both believers and non-believers. There is a time coming when this kind of chaos will be more reality than fictional, whether or not it will be caused by an EMP. The series reminds me much of the end days that John has written about. It is a good series to read, there are also group discussions at the end of each book that can be used if you read them for a group.

I liked the first book in the series, as it was realistically raw, although some of the ancillary characters were a bit of a stretch. Further, I liked the Christian outlook and the use of Scripture & prayer to solve the problems the family had. Kept my interest. The second book (this one) started off slow & tedious, with the family's greatest struggles being whether to take in a couple of orphan children. This I found more along the lines of an AfterSchool Special as opposed to a bleak SHTF, almost-WROL environment. Thus, both boring and unrealistic. I will admit I gave up before getting half way through, but it just couldn't keep my interest. Sorry.

"NIGHT LIGHT" is the second book in author Terri Blackstock's current "RESTORATION" series. It is a truly great sequel to her compelling "LAST LIGHT," which launched this gripping saga of what might happen in the event that this earth were to suddenly, and inexplicably, lose its sources of power and communications...no electricity, no telephones, few operational motor vehicles...all of our 'taken-for-granted' conveniences stripped from our lives--with no idea as to when, or if, they will ever be reinstated. Will today's generation cope as well, having lost these 'entitlements,' as the generations before us functioned without ever having, nor expected, marvels such as those to which we've grown accustomed? And how is God perceived during such a time of crisis? Is He indifferent to our problems, or might this be a way for Him to capture our attention, when some have been oblivious to the ruler of our universe, having been lulled into a state of complacency as we've relied more and more upon technology as our source of power and problem-solving? As I wrote when reviewing "LAST LIGHT," those who have read any of Terri Blackstock's more than two-dozen books can attest to the undeniable fact that she is truly an extraordinary writer. Her suspenseful novels meet or exceed the best of this genre, while remaining true to her deeply held Christian faith (her books are always '...lovingly dedicated to the Nazarene'). We eagerly look forward to the third "RESTORATION" novel...and all of Ms. Blackstock's future books!--Ron Howe / Erskine, Minnesota

I really enjoyed reading about the trials of this family! From what I have read in the past, this could really happen in our lifetime, from something man made or God made, like a comet! I love the spiritual parts as much as anything else in this story! Thank you & I look forward to the next book too! Terri is one of my favorite writers!

I hate the pain and sufferings trials bring. Terri Blackstock, hit the nail on the head when she spoke of God allowing us to be dragged through the, pain, suffering, and may I add, sorrow, and agony. God is always with his child when he allows trials. He walks with us. He never leaves us. He never forsakes us. I never thought of him dragging us or pulling us through. I can relate to that, and add, "oft times kicking and screaming"!Great series! Definitely, true to life circumstances. And, infinite thought provoking messages to anyone who would see them. As soon as I finish this review, I plan to pickup the third book, and get right on with the story!!!!!Deborah Wheeler

This book is just as good as last night some books get a little far from the first book but not this one it only picks up where they left off with more twist and turns great second book can’t wait to read the thir book

I heard about the Restoration Series from my grandson's physical therapist. She read the series and loaned it out to all of her aides. It's been several years since I've gotten so absorbed in a story and I read a lot!Terri Blackstock has created a wonderful insight into what could very well happen to all of us one day - a major, earthwide power outage. Her writing draws you into a different world and gives you a taste of what that world could be like, both the good and bad. It leaves you with a desire to think ahead and try, in some small way, to be prepared for such a catastrophe, if only on an emotional level. We take our air conditioning, automobiles, medical care and basic needs for granted. Her story takes you to places you'd never think about, but should.I HIGHLY recommend this series to everyone. It's also awesome how she relates God's message of redeeming love through her writing. I would rate her a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10!
