I have both of Joudie's cookbooks, Palestine on a Plate and now Baladi. The recipes are authentic and a wonderful way to document our heritage. It reminds me of the beautiful meals made by my family when visiting overseas. The images are gorgeous and evoke a sense of beauty and wonder. I have purchased this book for friends as gifts, as well as copies for my daughters to have for their own cultural keepsakes. Thank you, Joudie for taking the time to document the love and beauty of Palestinian people, culture, and food!

Joudie Kalla is one of the best chefs around and her love of food stems from spending endless amounts of time with her grandmother and mother observing their techniques as they recited stories of their lives, linking Palestinian culture with food.Her cookbooks are beautiful to the eye and her recipes so easy to follow. She brings her love of food and her love of her country to your kitchen.I highly recommend.

My sister and I went to Joudie’s superclub in London and fell in love with her and her recipes. We bought the first book right away! When the second book came out I purchased three copies. One for myself and two for my family.Her recipes are delicious AND accurate to how it’s supposed to be done. With middle eastern food being popular right now it’s hard to find real recipes. Here they are! Her books showcase a delicious truth. Palestine is a beautiful country with a lot of history; especially with food. Joudie displays everything perfectly about Palestine and the Middle East in both books.I definitely recommend purchasing both editions of her books. When I first got my hands on Palestine on a Plate, I was filled with joy because I had acccess to recipes that reminded me of the dinner table with my family. Baladi, Joudie’s sequel has allowed me to create my own memories with friends and family. Especially her breakfast recipes. Joudie is not only sharing Palestine’s food with the world. She is preserving the history of a people.

Palestine on a Plate is hands down, my favorite Palestinian cookbook.The first thing you will notice is how beautiful this cookbook is--the pictures, the details, and the recipes! I have spent 15 years in the Middle East with Palestinian refugees. Joudie's recipes are legit Palestinian and delicious!
